The Lady of the Mine must be honored. Three knocks on the rock to announce your arrival—a tradition dating back to the 1400s and still practiced today. The mine is a space for balance between her and us. The ritual begins with this respect, accompanied by Swedish and Sami music. The heat in the sauna is intense, so powerful that our bodies steam as we step out into the crystal-clear, drinkable water, which glows with a turquoise hue due to its high lime content. The "Lady of the Mine Sauna Ritual" offers not just physical relaxation but also a spiritual connection to the mine’s history and its folklore, blending ancient traditions with a unique sensory experience underground. This activity focus on animals, nature and our culture. After a short bus ride we venture in to the arctic forest in search of animals and deep snow to play in. On this exciting trip you will venture out in wolf territory with our skilled wolf trackers to learn the art of tracking wolves and other wildlife. During these two nights we will set up a hammock camp where a family of wolves roam free. We provide all the gear for a comfortable yet thrilling night in the wilderness. During this trip we travel together by foot and by van in small groups in one of Sweden´s wolf territories. You will have good chances to hear Wolves howl, see tracks and feel their presence. While few of our participants actually get to see a wolf, many of our guests have listened to wolves’ howling. Hearing a wolves howl in their natural habitat is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This is a 5-day trip with full focus on large wildlife. Watch moose, beavers, roe deer, red fox, red squirrel and birds. From Kiruna, we’ll drive to Jukkasjärvi, one of the oldest villages in the region and an important historical center for the Sámi people. We will pick you up from your hotel in Kiruna and drive to the starting point of your snowmobile adventure on the frozen Torne River. From here, we’ll head out with a small group — just four snowmobiles and your guide — giving us the freedom to travel further and explore remote corners of Swedish Lapland that few visitors ever see. Snowmobiles can take us to places inaccessible by any other vehicle. You can choose to drive your own snowmobile or share one with another participant. We will stop at spectacular location to take photos, and enjoy warm drinks and traditional Swedish snacks. Swedish Lapland is home to unique Arctic wildlife such as reindeer, moose, foxes, Arctic hares, and owls. Along the way, our guides will keep an eye for animal tracks in the snow and point them out to you — perhaps the distinctive heart‑shaped print of a reindeer, or the wide hoof marks of a moose. Learning to read these signs makes you feel even more connected to the wilderness around you.

Don’t worry – Lights Over Lapland is here to help! Before Covid arrived Abisko was blessed with several dog sledding companies, which offered our guests lots of choice and availability. Sadly, Covid led to the loss of 50% of the dog sledding capacity in Abisko so now there is only one provider in the National Park who offers dog sledding adventures. They are a fantastic company, with incredible dog sledding trips in Abisko, but unfortunately for our guests they are usually fully booked months in advance. This makes it very difficult to find availability for our guests on the ground in Abisko. With this in mind, Lights Over Lapland, and our friends at Kiruna Dogsled have an exciting dog sledding adventure in the beautiful village of Oinakka – just outside of Kiruna, near the world’s original Icehotel.

Ottsjö is famous for its scenic views, surrounded by a wild landscape of wide open wilderness attracting photographers and tourists from all over the world. We are just located 30 minutes away from Åre ski resort and 1 hour from Östersund. Our reputation as a dog sledding and bushcraft company is well known for being of a high standard and we have been delivering bushcraft survival courses in both Sweden and the UK for 20 years. Our courses combine simple step by step instruction with lots of hands on practical experiences to create fun opportunities to learn new skills in a pristine arctic environment.

Join our local Sami guide for a day visit to Nikkaluokta to learn more about the arctic nature, Sami culture and history of the area. See Kebnekaise, Sweden's highest mountain, and get the chance to see moose, reindeer and other wildlife. In summer we do a light hike, visit Nikkaluokta chapel and have lunch in the Sami-owned restaurant, in winter we visit the guide's home for a Sami activity and lunch.

Join us on the hunt for the northern lights and explore Kiruna to Abisko. Our guides use the weather & northern lights (aurora borealis) forecast to predict the best locations to have the highest probability to see northern lights. Northern lights is a natural phenomenon and changes constantly the same as the wild nature. Our guides do everything in their power to guide you to northern lights but sometimes it´s not possible due to weather conditions. If you are a photographer you are in good hands as we always try to find good spots for photography. Tripod is needed to photograph Northern lights as you need long shuttertime. We make a short introduction of the tour and how it works. Then buckle up and the hunt for the Northern lights has began for the night. Always small groups of maximum 7 people invites to a genuine experience to remember for a long time.
